Tinna Bjarnadóttir
What began as a quiet fascination blossomed into a lifelong calling which eventually led her to open her own flower shop in downtown Selfoss in the summer of 2021. There, beneath the ever-shifting Icelandic skies, she creates instant art with her floral compositions that feel as though they’ve been lured into existence from a place where imagination and nature hold hands.
Tinna’s artistry is rooted in a wonderfully eclectic background: Men’s tailoring; Fine Arts, and Fashion Design. These disciplines are all so precise, so expressive absolutely intertwine seamlessly in her work, start to finish. From tailoring she draws structure and meticulous craftsmanship, whereas, from fine arts, a love of colour and form, from fashion, a devotion to elegance, play, and the joy of the unexpected.
Every bouquet she creates carries some whisper of that alchemy. To illustrate, these influences also converge in her ongoing artistic series, “Flowers on the Brain,” a project that explores the delicate and daring relationship between sculpture, botanicals, and the expressive possibilities of the human mind. She brings it to life in real-time!
She pours the same heart, soul, and bright curiosity into her everyday work. No matter if she is crafting floral poetry for weddings and events or welcoming a neighbour in search of a single perfect bloom, being challenged with a unique never been done before design… Tinna infuses each interaction with the warm yet bubbly personality and artistry that have become her signature.
Most importantly, Tinna is deeply committed to nurturing the future of floristry. Through guest lectures at Iceland’s National Horticultural School, she generously shares her insights, experiences, and creative philosophy. Truly, planting seeds of inspiration for the next generation of floral artists!
In everything she does, Tinna Bjarnadóttir stands in the middle of craftsmanship and wonder as an artist who doesn’t merely arrange flowers but awakens them!
